NORTH STAR PARTICIPATING IN THE GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY OF DAMEN SONG CAM PROJECT – PHASE 2A

On July 24, 2025, North Star Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company officially participated in the “Groundbreaking Ceremony of Damen Song Cam Project – Phase 2A in Hai Phong” – an important event marking a new chapter in the development journey of construction and installation capacity in Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry.

Damen Song Cam Shipyard is the official joint-venture shipyard of Damen Group (Netherlands) in Vietnam, located in Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City. Covering nearly 43 hectares, the shipyard has been comprehensively invested with European standards in safety, environment, and technology.

The shipyard specializes in producing tugboats, workboats, and service vessels, with an initial capacity of about 40 ships per year, which will be increased to 80 ships per year in Phase 2. Upon completion of all three phases, Damen Song Cam is expected to be able to process 30–40 hulls annually in addition to its existing capacity, while also creating stable jobs for about 1,500 local workers.

Damen Group is one of the world’s leading shipbuilding corporations, currently operating more than 50 shipbuilding and repair yards worldwide. It has designed and built over 5,000 ships, with an average delivery rate of more than 150 vessels per year.

In Phase 2A, North Star Construction and Trading Joint Stock Company has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing the entire electrical system of the shipyard. This scope of work includes the medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems, distribution, lighting, control, and integrated automation solutions. (I am checking Scope of work with Mr. Manh.)

According to the plan, Damen Song Cam Phase 2A project will be implemented promptly and is expected to be handed over and put into operation by mid-June 2026. This milestone is expected to mark an important turning point when the shipyard officially upgrades its production capacity to a new level, making a strong contribution to Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry.

The groundbreaking of Damen Song Cam Phase 2A on July 24, 2025, is a significant milestone for Vietnam’s shipbuilding sector. By undertaking the supply and installation of the electrical system, North Star not only plays a crucial role in the project’s success but also affirms its competence in key industrial projects, aiming toward sustainable development and international integration.
