NORTH STAR CARRIES OUT IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DWIGHT SCHOOL PROJECT

Hanoi International Escalator School in Bitexco Urban Area (Dwight Mixed School) is the first educational complex project in Vietnam to be managed for educational quality by the Dwight Global System with a history of more than 150 years.

At the end of August 2023, after fully satisfying the requirements for technical proposals and financial documents, North Star received a bidding package acceptance letter from the investor Bitexco Group on “Supply and installation of technical systems including Air conditioning and ventilation systems, piping systems, water supply and drainage systems and sanitary equipment”.

Immediately after receiving the bidding package acceptance letter, North Star organized the Project Steering Committee and carried out the installation of temporary works at the project. By the beginning of September 2023, temporary items for construction, and mobilization of human resources and equipment have been completed. At the same time, the application for approval, preparation of drawings, ordering, and acceptance of input materials were also fully implemented.

By the end of September 2023, North Star has carried out acceptance of a number of installation items at the project, comprehensively applied the quality management processes according to international standard ISO 9001:2015 and occupational health and safety management processes according to the international standard ISO 45001:2018, at the same time applied Procore project management software from America’s leading project management consultant (Tunner) and BIM Building Information Modeling based on the specific characteristics of the project, so drawing management, approval, acceptance, documentation, reporting... are strictly controlled to ensure quality, progress, and safety.

In the last week of October 2023, the project held a “Topping out” ceremony with the attendance of the investor, project management consultant, construction contractors, and mechanical and electrical contractors. At this time, North Star has moved to the “Stage of Speed-up”, the number of workers and managers at the project has mobilized up to 150 people, construction equipment has been used to the fullest, and the QC and Safety department has continuously conducted Quality and safety control measures for “Safety, quality, progress” of the project.

By the beginning of December 2023, after 101 days of construction, North Star had completed 60% of the rough building volume, 95% of ordering, and 90% of drawing, as well as reached 1,000,000 safe working hours for the whole project. Up to now, North Star’s scope of work at the project is well controlled with guaranteed progress and quality, and no labor accidents on the construction site. Project management consultants and investor highly appreciate the coordination at work and resources as well as experience in the project implementation.

Also at this time, the Board of Directors and the Project Steering Committee together review and evaluate the goals and targets at the project. The project has met very well monthly goals and targets, especially for approval, ordering, drawings, QA/QC and Safety. Besides, the project is in the center of Hanoi, 6km from the Office of North Star, so it has received a lot of support from Block/Department/Division at the Office. Apart from favorable conditions at the project, the Board of Directors also raised challenges at the project, especially progress challenges as well as requirements of Leed standards. With experience and sharp management ability, the Project Steering Committee received analysis from the Board of Directors, then proposed solutions for challenges at the project and set goals to complete ahead of schedule.

The Dwight Mixed School project is one of North Star’s key projects that is going to be handed over in mid-2024 - The Project Steering Committee identifies Dwight as one of the projects to mark a historic milestone for 20^th anniversary of establishment of North Star.
